In breaking news we’ve locked in a date for the ILT Southland Entertainment Awards. Because of Covid we’re giving it a break this year and it will be coming back with a reboot in 2022. Save the date, people: April 8, 2022. It’s going to have a new look, a new format and a new venue – the Ascot Park Hotel. Very, very exciting.
More exciting news. The Southland Musicians Club website is near completion. We’re aiming for a launch next month. Stay tuned.

May 8: FOTA. Radical, musical, melodic, and energetic alt rock with a hard, punky edge. They’re unique, confrontational, and uber entertaining. With Russian Blue and Person Will.Omaj. Just a tenner on the door, and $5 for students.
May 9: Dan Sharp. A touring singer/songwriter based out of Katikati. Check out the event on our Facebook page to secure tickets for this intimate gig.
May 20: David and Shimna. An award-winning folk duo, with a beautiful sound and fans all over the planet. Check them out. Tickets on www.eventbrite.co.nz
May 23: Cathcart/Walsh/Blaikie. A tight, funky, country-blues band from Christchurch, who worship the groove. Doors open 5pm. Just $15 on the door.
June 11: Get FOLKed! An evening of traditional, contemporary and original folk music performed by local artists. This is an open mic event, so if you’re keen to get up and have a craic (see what I did there?) you can direct message the gals at Get FOLKed! Find them on Facebook. Bar open but bring your own nibbles. Doors open at 6.30pm. Entry is by koha/gold coin.
